He and his accomplices, Ahmad, had entered Sogani’s car that was parked on the roadside and at gunpoint robbed him of his cell phone and cash. The third accomplice was Annu. The accused had robbed a couple after they had drawn money from an ATM at MP Nagar on December 25.

The accused sold the cell phones to one Amir Khan of Piparia. Police said on the basis of the appearance of the accused furnished by victims, the record of history-sheeters was tallied and the clues led to Altaf.

Since the accused had gone to Jhansi, a police party was sent to Jhansi, but by then he had returned to Bhopal. He was arrested here and during interrogation the accused confessed to his involvement in the robberies. The revolver used in the crime has been recovered.
