A grim looking Achuthanandan did not stop to speak to the waiting media at the airport.

The 85-member CPI-M central committee has been authorised by the politburo to find a solution to the raging feud.

During the politburo meeting last week, Achuthanandan had demanded that Vijayan be removed from the post of state secretary since the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has accused him of having been involved in the Rs.374 crore SNC Lavalin corruption case.

The Vijayan faction responded by saying that Achuthanandan must be made to resign for constantly violating party discipline.

"A solution will surely be found during the meeting. This fight cannot go on any longer because not only has it sullied the image of the party but also that of the state government," a CPI-M minister told IANS on condition of anonymity.
