After his recent acquittal by the Delhi high court in the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, IPS officer RK Sharma now wants his job back.
Sharma, who sought his reinstatement in a communication to union home secretary RK Singh, told HT on Friday that since he was sacked from service following his conviction by a lower court, he should be taken back now as the high court had acquitted him.
On January 23, 1999, Bhatnagar, a journalist with Indian Express, was found murdered in her east Delhi apartment. Sharma, who was Haryana’s inspector-general (prisons) then, was named prime accused.
