THE AUTOPSY on the body of retired CRPF DSP Hari Lal, who succumbed to his injuries sustained allegedly in police beating, revealed that the body had nine injuries.

Axe may now fall on two constables including the station officer, Tharwai police station, for their role in the thrashing of the retired officer who later died during treatment. The 70-year old officer, a resident of Bankat village under this police station, died at a nursing home on January 16. He had been admitted there with injuries.
Sources said he had been severely beaten up by two constables Lallan Yadav and Sukhraj on January 3 at the police station. He was forced to go there for questioning in some patter matter.
Hari Lal’s two sons had written to the DGP after their father was admitted to the hospital that the station officer and two constables should be held responsible in case their father died during treatment. They had also demanded that all financial expenses, in the event of the death of their father, should be met with the salaries of the three police personnel.
It may be mentioned that a case has already been lodged against the two constables following court intervention. Following this the constables were sent to lines. Hari Lal’s body that had been buried in his native village after his death, was exhumed and sent for postmortem following a petition by his sons to the DM on Saturday. SSP Vijay Singh Meena said that suitable action would be taken following the autopsy report which was yet to reach him officially. He said, the role of the station officer was yet to be ascertained. No case will be made out against him if it was confirmed that the station officer was kept in the dark about the case.
