TAKING SERIOUS note of the violation of parking norms by multi-storeyed buildings, the Allahabad Development Authority has swung into action and identified 200 such buildings in the city.

The High Court, on the writ petition filed by social activist, Anand Mohan, had asked both the District Magistrate and the Vice Chairman, ADA, to take stern action against owners of such buildings who have not made arrangements of parking so far.
Hence, as per directives of District Magistrate, the ADA identified 200 multi-storeyed buildings which have no parking facility in their premises.
Divisional Commissioner, Dr Lalit Verma, who is also the Chairman of ADA, also asked the development authority officers to act on time. As a result nearly a dozen multi-storeyed and other buildings situated in Civil Lines area were issued notices for not having provided the parking facility as per the norms prescribed by ADA itself.
Following the receipt of notices some erring building owners have initiated steps to provide the parking facility in their premises.
Those who have not taken any measures so far, would be threatened with legal action through serving of the notices this week, said ADA sources.
ADA Vice Chairman OPN Singh on Saturday has ordered his subordinates to issue notices to multi-storeyed buildings and shopping complexes who have no parking facility at all.

As some of them received the notices they met the ADA Vice-Chairman and sought three days' time to make arrangements for parking. Some of them have already started the work.
Meanwhile, ADA has issued public notices in newspapers to remove all encroachments on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and Sardar Patel Marg as demarcated by it in compliance of the court order.
