The selection to the post of Executive Directors of the IMF is to take place in September and the selected persons from various countries would take over charge in October for a three-year period.
A 1969-batch IAS officer from Rajasthan cadre, Kishore was earlier tipped to become Cabinet Secretary but could not make it as incumbent BK Chaturvedi's term was extended by one year.
Kishore, who will represent India in the IMF, will replace BP Mishra who will retire after completing his three-year tenure.
