THE Admission process has started in Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU) professional courses for the January- December 2006 session. UPRTOU public relation officer PC Mishra informed that admissions to 10 professional courses : MLIS, PGDJMC, PGDIMB, PGDCA, PGDFM, CDM, CCY, CHR and CCC were open and forms were available at the administrative office and learning centres of the UPRTOU.
The candidates should submit the application form by February 25.
Vice-Chancellor Prof KNS Yadav was happy with the overwhelming response to the new courses offered by the university. He said that the open university was offering courses covering every aspect of life.
Open education had become the need of the times and was gaining popularity in rural areas. Mass copying: Meanwhile, examination controller Dr Ratnakar Shukla informed that an incident of mass copying was found during the ongoing UPRTOU examination on Sunday.
In its surprise inspection, the flying squad detected mass copying at Shibli National College in Azamgarh. Dr Shukla said that the case would be submitted to the examination committee and cancellation of the exam of the subject in question could be ordered.
Dr Shukla informed that seven students in Allahabad and Jaunpur and one in Varanasi were held on Sunday for copying. Around 47 students have been caught by the flying squad and the invigilators till date all over the state.
D Phil awarded: Rajesh Kumar Garg was awarded D Phil by the Hindi Department of Allahabad University. He completed his research under the guidance of Prof Malti Tiwari. Garg was felicitated with a gold medal and Chancellor’s medal in 1999.

Allahabad University Union: A general meeting of the Mahaparishad of the Allahabad University Union has been convened at 3 pm on February 20, 2006.
AU Student Union president Ajit Yadav urged all the elected and nominated members of the Mahaparishad to attend the meeting.
