THE STATE Government has directed all technical colleges in the State admitting students under the management quota to admit candidates strictly on the basis of merit.
Technical Education secretary Rajeev Kumar has further directed all colleges to admit only those candidates under the 15 per cent management quota category, who took their UP State Entrance Examination (UPSEE-2006) held earlier this year.
The colleges have been directed to issue prominent advertisements informing candidates to apply within 21 days of the publication of the advertisement to the institute concerned, UP Technical University (UPTU) vice-chancellor (V-C) or an official nominated by the V-C.
The institutes as well as the UPTU would ensure availability of the application forms to the candidates desirous of taking admission under the management quota. Candidates could also get application forms directly from the UPTU.
The application forms have to be made available on the Internet as well so that candidates could download it directly.
To make it more convenient for candidates, the state government has decided that in case candidates are not able to get the application form, they could apply on a plain piece of paper mentioning their names, roll number and their rank in the UPSEE merit.
Candidates have been asked to send one copy to the UPTU and another to the institute they wish to apply.

{{/usCountry}}An official of the UPTU nominated by the V-C would screen the merit list prepared by the colleges. In case, it is discovered that a meritorious candidate’s name (who was eligible for admission on merit) was left out by the institute concerned, the V-C or an official nominated by him would include the name of the candidate left out by the institute.
The institutes would make the final admissions under the management quota only after it is vetted by the V-C of UPTU. The colleges have been asked not to charge any fees other than the one prescribed under the management quota.
Institutes violating the government norms would risk action.
