The city will soon have a general hospital at Sector 32 here, deputy commissioner Vikas Yadav said this here on Thursday.
Yadav told Hindustan Times that the administration had identified 12-acre prime land for the mega health facility.
"The land belongs to the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and a report has been sent to the office of chief administration to allot the vacant land for the hospital," Yadav said.
"The plot earmarked for the project falls in developing Sector 32. As per the plan, it will be a 100-bed hospital with various major treatment facilities," Yadav said.
Earlier, the city had a hospital but the state government decided to upgrade it to the Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH).
Last year, the land belonging to the general hospital was handed over for the upcoming medical college.
"Though all medical facilities are available at the KCGMCH, a general hospital was needed for implementation and monitoring of various healthcare programmes in the district. We hope that once cleared, the project will be established soon," the DC said.

Meanwhile, Supreme Infrastructure, a private company, hired for the construction work of the KCGMCH is expected to commence work from Friday.
On November 19, last year, chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had laid the foundation stone of KCGMCH and the private company has been given a deadline to complete the work in the next 20 months.
