WITH NOTIFICATION issued for the Municipal Corporation elections, the district administration has swung into action.

Additional district magistrate (ADM) city, Abrar Ahmad today carried out an extensive survey of the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) premises for selecting the rooms for nomination process. For the first time filing of nominations for the mayoral candidates would also be held at KMC campus.
However, till date nominations for mayoral candidates were being held at the district collectorate.
It may be mentioned that the State Election Commission had issued a notification for filing of nominations for the Municipal Corporation elections. The nomination process would start from October 3 and would continue up to October 6. The scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations would be completed by October 10 and symbols would be issued to candidates on October 12.
During the inspection, ADM city inspected several rooms and also directed some changes in order to make these rooms in accordance with the norms. The four story main building of the KMC had been earmarked for the filing of nominations.
On the first floor of the building, nominations for 32 wards would be filed. While on the second and third floors, nominations for 43 and 35 wards would be filed.
Against the tradition, nominations for mayoral seat would also be held at KMC.

{{/usCountry}}ADM city selected the room earmarked for corporators for the filing of nominations for the seat of mayor. The contractor engaged by the KMC has been directed by the ADM city to convert the corporators’ room into a court for the nomination of mayoral seat.
Special directives for putting up a map for felicitating the candidates in the nomination process were also issued to KMC officials. Apart from this, ward numbers would also be written in bold on the entrance of all the rooms for the convenience of candidates. A separate room has also been selected for carrying out all administrative work related to nomination process.
Following the directives of State Election Commission, stress was also laid on maintaining the law and order during the four-day nomination process.
