THE DISTRICT administration has finally repossessed a land worth Rs 24 crore in Barkhedi Kalan, which it had almost lost owing to a fraudulent title change order issued in collusion with some officials.

THE DISTRICT administration has finally repossessed a land worth Rs 24 crore in Barkhedi Kalan, which it had almost lost owing to a fraudulent title change order issued in collusion with some officials.

The district administration had taken possession of the prime piece of land under Urban Ceiling Act about a decade ago. But in December last year title of the land was changed in the name of two individuals.

The 21.20- acre land in question was acquired in 1997 by the district administration as the land was falling under the Urban Ceiling Act, implemented in 1976. Under the Act, the State Government acquired the additional land above 37 decimal in the name of one individual.

Three members of the family could get the same measure of land while government acquired additional land. This Act was abolished on February 17, 2000 on the condition that the land already acquired under this Act till date would remain in possession of the government. Overlooking this, additional collector LN Sharma ordered to provide possession of the land to two individuals – Nandlal and Biharilal. Before acquisition, these two persons owned this land.
