At the meeting, the district magistrate instructed officers of different departments to address the sadhus’ problems. However, Naga sadhu’s are not happy at all. For them, the administration has woken up only after they threatened to approach the chief minister and boycott Shivratri festival.

On Saturday night district magistrate Rajeev Agarwal along with SSP Sujit Pandey rushed to Hanuman Ghat to pacify general secretary of Akhara Parishad Mahant Hari Giri who had threatened that Naga sadhus would boycott Shivratri festival and leave the holy township in protest against administrative apathy.

“Our presence in this religious place has been totally ignored this time in spite of assurances by Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at Allahabad a few days ago”, Mahant Hari Giri, general secretary of Akhara Parishad, told reporters at a press conference on Saturday.

The Naga sadhus have also demanded deployment of security personnel and proper healthcare facilities besides raising of pantoon bridge across the Ganga.
