"I will be happy and proud if the Modi model of good governance is prescribed for all," said Advani at the 42nd anniversary meet of Cho S Ramasamy's Tughlak magazine, in Chennai on Saturday.

"If a player does extremely well in Ranji trophy he should be promoted to the national team. Similarly, it will make sense to use Modi at the national level," said Ramasamy. He suggested the BJP could even support Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa for prime minister.

Advani described Jayalalithaa as a natural ally. Modi said, "Not only the Centre does not do things, it also does not allow states to do good work."
