LEADER OF Opposition in Lok Sabha L K Advani will inaugurate several projects aimed at the holistic development of the City during his visit to Indore on January 5.

Addressing a press conference at her residence here on Tuesday, Mayor Uma Shashi Sharma released the schedule planned for Advani including the main function at Vaishnav Stadium at 9.45 am, which would also be attended by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Narendra Singh Tomar and many other State party bigwigs.
Later, Advani would unveil the statue of Jan Sangh founder Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee installed at Vijay Nagar Square in the presence of Chouhan and other leaders, she added.
She shed light on major projects being launched for the all-round development of Indore including the Narmada phase-III project started with a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
“Traffic problem will be eased and the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has already started work in this regard,” the mayor said.
She said they had received a grant of Rs 868 crore under the BRTS scheme and the Indore City Transport Services Limited (ICTSL) presently plying 78 buses on 24 routes had been successful.

{{/usCountry}}The Indore Sewerage Project planned by keeping the projected population of 2021 in mind and with a capacity of 540 LLD has been drawn in conjunction with the Montgomery Consultants.
Laying the 425-km of primary and secondary sewerage line and constructing a treatment plant with 245 MLD capacity will be the major highlights of this project. Rs 307.17 crore has been sanctioned in this connection.
The 20 per cent urban poor of the City residing in slum clusters will get proper housing with Rs 13.4 crore being sanctioned under the JNNURM scheme.
A plan for constructing 4,132 dwellings at a cost of Rs 62 crore drawn by IMKC and another having 7,936 dwellings at a cost of Rs 124 crore drawn by the Indore Development Authority (IDA) has been sent for approval.
A BRTS feeder network under the National Urban Transport Policy is also on the cards. IMC has received Rs 40.89 crore for constructing eight major roads of which work has begun on two. Similarly, IDA has been sanctioned Rs 60.40 crore for the construction of two major roads.
Twenty multi-level parkings will be constructed under the public-private partnership at a cost of Rs 74 crore, and hawkers zone at 11 places at a cost of Rs 13.50 crore is also proposed.
A garden on 150-acre along Pipliapala lake will be developed at a cost of Rs 35 crore and dense plantation will be carried out on the 4.5-km stretch on the western ring road at a cost of Rs 3 crore as per the Green Indore and Neem city project.
