The Podar Schools management met the Parent Teacher Association and decided on an SMS-based survey.

Parents were asked if Thursday was okay, how they feel should schools compensate for the lost time and whether the mid-term exams should be cancelled. “Parents agreed to the opening date and did not want the exam cancelled,” said Vandana Lulla, principal of Podar International School.

The Health Ministry’s guideline is not quite specific to hold morning assemblies. It also says that the teachers will keep vigil on students with flu-like symptoms. But the decision to close will be left to the school. “I don’t see how we can keep schools shut for long time,” said Meera Isaacs, principal of Cathedral and John Connon School.

Apeejay School in Navi Mumbai, where one student was tested positive for the virus, is preparing for Thursday.
