It's not only the absence of a government that has people of Kashmir weary these days but elusive snowfall in one the harshest spell of winter has left locals unhappy. Meteorological department finally has good news for people residing in the Valley.
"Light to moderate rain or snowfall would occur at many places in Jammu and Kashmir division and at few places in Ladakh region in the next 24 hours,"said Met officials in Srinagar.
The Met predicted a decrease in precipitation from Wednesday evening.
Srinagar's minimum temperature has already slipped to O.2 degree Celsius, a temperature which is considered feasible for a snowfall.
A spell of light showers was also reported from south, central and north Kashmir, besides Srinagar on Tuesday afternoon.
Plains of Kashmir valley witnessed no snowfall this year in the first 20 days of the 40-day Chillai Kalan, the harshest spell of the winter. This was the first time in this decade that such a phenomenon had occurred in a decade.
"Snow is lifeline of Kashmir. It is source of water for all major water bodies in the summer. Any depletion or erratic snowfall only will add to our woes in the future," said Naseer Ahmad, a columnist and writer of the book 'Kashmir Pending'.

{{/usCountry}}Omar Abdullah, former chief minister and National Conference working president also expressed concern over snowless Chillai Kalan.
"I feel sorry for the tourists coming up to Gulmarg hoping to ski. Need some heavy snow up there soon," tweeted Abdullah.
It seems the weather gods accepted Abdullah's plea as Gulmarg witnesses a heavy snowfall on Tuesday. Officials said the road connectivity to the ski resort remain open. Gulmarg is winter destination of Kashmir and the tourist footfall is only attracted by snowfall.
