Representatives of several resident bodies on Thursday met deputy commissioner PC Meena and asked him to ensure adequate supply in their areas.

“There was no water in several areas of New Gurgaon from May 15 to May 25 and again from June 29 till date,” said a resident present in the meeting.

The residents also submitted a memorandum to the DC giving details about areas that come under the jurisdiction of Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda), where water shortage is a constant problem.

“DLF City, Sushant Lok, Ardee City, Sun City and several other areas are widely affected by poor water supply during the peak of summer. This is intolerable and we have asked the DC to settle the issue at the earliest,” said RS Rathee, president, Gurgaon Citizens’ Council.

Presidents of various RWAs have been asked to prepare a water supply time-table in their respective areas.

Sushant Lok needs at least 12,000 kilolitres of water per day to cater to its 24,000 population. But according to residents, Huda has failed to supply adequate amount of the resource since the past two months.

The DC, however, refused to comment on the matter.

In the last one month, series of protests have been held over water and power crisis at DLF, Badshahpur, Jharsa, Ardee City, Sector 22, Molahera and Dundahera, resulting in blockades of roads and scuffles between protesters and government officials.
