The party has also prepared a list of 200 possible candidates for the upcoming Assembly election, including 50-Assembly segment in Gorakhpur, Basti and Devipatan division.
Talking to Hindustan Times, member of All India Congress Committee, Dr Syed Jamal, said that eight divisional heads of the party would submit the list of possible candidates to party chief Sonia Gandhi and they would be directed to intensify their activities to take mileage over other political parties in the election campaign.
He said the Congress had conducted a survey and the list was finalised. Besides, State president Salman Khurshid had nominated Imtiaz Khan to conduct a survey and prepare a report regarding the winning candidates. He would also submit his report to the zonal incharge Ram Pujan Patel.
Sources said in the first phase the party would consider the seats where Congress candidates were in contest with rival party candidates in the last Assembly election.
Responding to a question, he said the Congress leader had sounded a bugle to regain its lost ground in Uttar Pradesh and State president Salman Khurshid along with in-charge of party affairs in UP Ashok Gehlot, had decided to start ‘sankalp yatra’ to activate the party organisation up to booth level.
Terming the Kanpur rally as a historical one, Dr Jamal said participation by the young generation in the rally was an indication that the youths were annoyed with caste and communal politics and they wanted development.
