Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi called off his fast on Monday after the Supreme Court decision to allow construction work on the Narmada dam to continue.

Modi, who was on a hunger strike since Sunday afternoon to protest the central government's "anti-Narmada" stance, announced that following the apex court's verdict, now "there is no need to continue fasting as our stand has been rewarded".
