Afzal to be hanged on October 20

The apex court had in Aug '05 upheld the death penalty imposed on him.

A Delhi Court on Tuesday ordered that Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Mohd Afzal, sentenced to death in the December 13, 2001 Parliament attack case, be hanged on October 20.

A warrant in this regard was issued by Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur saying the death sentence of Afzal will be executed at 0600 hours in Tihar Central Jail on October 20.

Mohd Afzal's death sentence by the trial court was confirmed by the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court.

The apex court had on August 4, 2005, upheld the death penalty imposed on him by the trial court.

Out of the four accused in the case, another JeM terrorist Shaukat Hussain Guru was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment.

Two other accused SAR Geelani, a Delhi University college lecturer, and lone woman accused Navjot Sandhu alias Afsan Guru, wife of Shaukat, have been acquitted in the case.
