A STATE-LEVEL agricultural fair encompassing farmers meet, symposium and organic mart organised jointly by the State Agriculture Department, divisional commissioner, Indore and the Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture College would be held on February 2-3 at the college.
The fair has been divided into four distinct zones including farm mechanisation, organic farming, traditional farming and modern practice of agriculture. The government has identified Malwa as an agri-export region.
Information on certification, obtaining financial aid, hybrid seeds, modern farming methods, fertilisers, pesticides, grading, storage, transportation and marketing of product would also be given.
Information on agriculture implements, poultry farming, apiary, animal husbandry, horticulture and floriculture would be given during the course of the fair. Live demonstration wherever possible would also be given.
Drip and sprinkler irrigation, biodynamic exhibit, green house/tissue culture, vermiculture, biotechnology-based fertiliser production and hi-tech horticulture methods would be demonstrated.
Farmers would be allowed a tour of the Wheat Research Centre, Seed Distribution Centre, Dairy Centre and Organic Farms.
Sixty agriculture scientists would participate in the symposium and topics such as corporate farming, transactional farming and effects of WTO agreements on Indian farming would be discussed.

{{/usCountry}}A large number of companies including 15 from the State, 55 from outside and 16 State Government departments would participate in the agriculture fair.
District minister in-charge Himmat Kothari would inaugurate the fair at 11 am. Minister of Agriculture Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh would be the chief guest of the closing ceremony to be held at at 3 pm on February 4. Former bureaucrat Dr Kamal Taori would preside over the function.
