The AIADMK executive meeting in Chennai on Tuesday is expected to discuss the party's defeat in the May assembly elections and chalk out the strategy for the next month's polls to local bodies.
The meeting, the first after the party's defeat, is likely to analyse the reasons for its defeat and take steps so that it can take on the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA) in the polls to local bodies scheduled for October, party sources said.
Though AIADMK was defeated by the six-party DPA, it put up a creditable performance by winning 61 seats on its own. Its allies, MDMK and DPI, won six seats and two seats respectively.
With the party being out of power in the state and with no clout at the national level after it failed to win even a single seat in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the upcoming elections will be crucial for the AIADMK to build its base from the grassroots level.
A good showing by the party would enthuse cadres and put it back on the road to recovery. The party will focus on lessons learnt from the assembly election results, sources said.

{{/usCountry}}The day-long meeting is also expected to discuss the raids by the directorate of vigilance and anti-corruption and IT at the homes of former ministers O Panneerselvam, Natham Viswanathan and Anitha Radhakrishnan.
Party presidium chairman K Kalimuthu will preside over the meeting.
