AICC panel meets MLAs to choose Karnataka CM

The observers committee formed by the AICC met with the newly elected 121 MLAs on Friday to discuss the selection of new Congress Legislative Party leader and consider him for the chief minister’s post.

The observers committee formed by the AICC met with the newly elected 121 MLAs on Friday to discuss the selection of new Congress Legislative Party leader and consider him for the chief minister’s post.

The committee headed by defence mnister AK Antony, Luciyano Felero, state party incharge Madhusudhan Mistry, union minister Veerappa Moily met the MLAs in the Pradesh Congress Committee office.

The observers after the meet would leave for Delhi and submit a report to the party high command.

The selection of CM candidate would be then decided by the party president Sonia Gandhi. The new CM is likely to be decided soon and would take oath on Basava Jayanthi (Monday).

Meanwhile, the chief ministership frontrunners including Siddaramaiah and Mallikarjuna Kharge have started lobbying for their CM candidature. Backward community leader Siddarmaiah, belongs to third major community Kuruba, met former union minister SM Krishna and sought his support. At the same time Union Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge met KPCC chief G Parameshwara and sought his support. However Kharge told media that he met Parameshwar just to console him for his defeat in the latter’s constituency recently. Siddaramaiah said the party high command would take an appropriate decision on this regard.
