The CBI is examining the irregularities after receiving a reference from the ministry of health and family welfare and a complaint from the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), said an agency source. The appointments were for 27 departments of the AIIMS coming up in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh under the central Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

“The irregularities were detected on the examination of a complaint submitted by three experts who were associated with the selection process of candidates for the posts of two professors and 10 assistant professors in the Ophthalmology department,” said a CVC source. The source said, “In a signed complaint made to the CVC, the experts had alleged manipulation and tampering of marks secured by the short-listed candidates and of the merit list that was eventually prepared.”
