Airbus says 12 orders cancelled in January

European aircraft manufacturing giant Airbus said Friday that orders for 12 of its A320 short-haul planes were cancelled in January while it won a fresh deal for four A321s from Turkish Airlines.

European aircraft manufacturing giant Airbus said Friday that orders for 12 of its A320 short-haul planes were cancelled in January while it won a fresh deal for four A321s from Turkish Airlines.

Airbus said it delivered 34 planes in the month, with 31 of them single-aisle models.

Both Airbus and its US giant rival Boeing have warned that the global economic slowdown could see orders fall by up to 60 percent this year.

Boeing said Thursday that Dubai-based aircraft-leasing company LCAL had slashed its order of 21 Dreamliner planes to five.
