The Spanish team, which was to leave early on Monday (local time) and reach New Delhi via Frankfurt, is now stranded in Madrid, waiting for the airlines to make some arrangements so that it can reach New Delhi well in time before its opening match against South Africa on February 28.

“The team’s plans are to be confirmed, we are affected by the Lufthansa strike,” Eduardo Perez, a technical official with the Spanish hockey federation (RFEH) said on phone from Barcelona.
