The decision was taken at a high level meeting presided over by principal secretary (Home) Satish Agarwal and attended by DGP Bua Singh, ADG security, officials of airport administration and CISF, DM’s and SSPs of all districts concerned. Agarwal directed the officials to set up security check posts near all airports as a precautionary measure.

The State Government’s move comes after the Centre asked it to take urgent steps to thwart possible terrorist strikes in airports. It has now been decided that CISF would also check the passengers’ luggage.

Besides, a consensus has been reached in increasing the number of CISF personnel at the airports.

The CISF is to be provided with dragon lights, anti-sabotage equipment and additional vehicles.

Besides, the work of vacating Garaura village near Amausi airport too is to be expedited.

So far, about 20 people from the village have been compensated.

The villagers have to be paid about Rs 5 crore more. Agarwal ordered that the compensation be given to the villagers at the earliest.
