The strength of Central Industrial Security Force personnel on security duty at the country's airports will be increased, CISF Director-General SIS Ahmed said in Chennai on Thursday.

"Airport activities are increasing and with this our force will also expand. A survey will be done," he told reporters at the airport soon after his arrival from New Delhi.

Ahmed was responding to a question on whether there would be an increase in the force strength at Chennai airport, where only 456 CISF personnel were deployed as against the requirement of 900.
Terming his visit to the city a 'routine' one, Ahmed said CISF was currently deployed on security duty at 54 airports across the country.
