The new tariff plans are now at the level of 3G services offered by Airtel in these circles.

“The Rs. 450 (2GB free download), Rs. 650 (3GB) and Rs. 750 (5GB) 4G plans offer data quota (GBs) at rents similar to 3G plans at superfast 4G speeds,” Airtel said. Earlier, its 4G tariff started with a monthly rental of Rs. 650.

4G allows download speeds up to 100 Mbps and upload speeds up to 50 Mbps. It is five times higher than the download speed of 21 Mbps offered by 3G.

At present, Airtel is the only 4G service operator in India. However, the company is expected to face tough competition from Reliance Industries that is expected to launch services by the end of this fiscal year.
