City unit president Zia-ul-Islam said party activists would welcome Akhilesh at Subhash Chandra Bose crossing.
He expressed hope that Akhilesh’s yatra would give a strong reply to propaganda launched by the Congress and other political parties against the State Government.
The district unit also organised a meeting at the party office. District president Chandrabali Yadav, secretary Rajnish Yadav and others said the yatra would pass through Mohaddipur, Karjahan, Khorabar and Chauri Chaura. Akhilesh will also visit Deoria on January 16.
On January 17, he is scheduled to be in Sant Kabirnagar and Basti. The yatra will also cover Ballia, Varanasi and Ghazipur and Maharajganj to galvanise the party organisation. Party leaders said Chief Minister Mulayam Singh would address a public meeting on January 23 during his visit to the district.
He would lay the foundation stone of various development projects and inaugurate half-a-dozen others.
Party leader and former MLC Devendra Pratap Singh, Gopal Yadav, Yogendra Chauhan, Vishwanath Vishwakarma, Rajendra Singh Sainthwar, NL Sharma, Manoj Yadav, Vrinda Devi and Nirupama Sharma also expressed their views on the occasion.
