Alert public nab thief from a temple in Gulbarga

A burglar who made a vain bid to steal the silver crown of the presiding diety at a Hanuman temple on the city outskirts here was nabbed by locals and handed over to police.

A burglar who made a vain bid to steal the silver crown of the presiding diety at a Hanuman temple on the city outskirts here was nabbed by locals and handed over to police.

The culprit set ablaze the crown, in an attempt to separate it from the idol and tried to escape from the temple last night, police said.

However, the smoke emnating from the temple attracted passers by, who beat him up and handed him over to police.
