Joint Election Commissioner PC Gupta said observers have been appointed to ensure peaceful and fair poll. All observers have been directed to reach the district a day before the poll and to return only after the counting of ballots was over.

“Divisional Commissioners have been directed to identify sensitive blocks and appoint observers to check dispute during poll. Each district will be divided into zones and the district magistrates will depute zonal magistrates”, Gupta said.

Meanwhile, the State Election Commission directed to remove Superintendent of Police Basti Amitabh Thakur, ASP Unnao and Circle Officer Sultanpur from election duty. Some candidates have lodged a complaint against these officials.

The filing of nomination papers was completed on Friday. The candidates can withdraw their papers on Saturday between 11 am to 3 pm.
