"All Indian nationals in Kabul are reported safe," the Indian Embassy said in a statement after the terrorists struck the Afghan capital leaving at least nine persons, including four attackers, dead.

"We have advised all Indians to restrict their movements, remain at safe places and follow security guidelines," it said.

Sources in New Delhi said the site of the terror strike was about two kilometres from the Indian Embassy, which has come under attack twice since July 2008.

As soon as the multiple attacks near the Presidential Palace started at around 10 am, security at the Indian Embassy was put on high alert to prevent any collateral impact, the sources said.

They noted that the Indian Embassy continues to be high on target list of Taliban and its mentor ISI, because of which the security at the Mission and its staff remains a critical challenge.
