All set for block pramukh election today
ARRANGEMENTS HAVE been made for the election of block pramukhs in 19 development blocks of the district on Monday. However, election will not be held in Saidabad development as single nominations have been filed for each post there. Besides, block pramukhs are likely to be elected unopposed in Handia, Chaka and Kaundhiara blocks. But election for other posts will be held in these blocks.

The district administration claimed that it had made adequate arrangements for conducting peaceful polling.
Ballot papers and required polling staff had been sent to every development block. Besides, the electorate had been issued identity cards. Counting of votes will begin immediately after polling ends on Monday and all results are expected by late evening. Umesh Tiwari, special secretary, Sports, who arrived here as the observer of the State Election Commission, held discussions with the officials concerned in this connection.
RO ignores shootout reports
RETURNING OFFICER has sent his report to the State Election Commission Office that the process of nomination had peacefully been completed in Saidabad development block. Ignoring the reports about shootout at the time of filing of nominations here, the returning officer sent his report to the SEC, paving the way for declaration of the results.
According to reports, supporters of a Samajwadi Party legislator and a former MLA of BJP had clashed in Saidabad and heavy exchange of fire took place on the day the nomination papers were filed. A BJP delegation even met the observer here at the circuit house in this connection and sought his intervention. The observer reportedly assured the delegation of impartiality.
