“Watching cricket on the big screen, especially in 3D format, has really caught on. The tickets were sold out a while ago” says Tushar Dhingra, COO Big Cinemas that is screening matches at two theatres. “We are almost out of tickets at all our five cinemas halls,” says Deepak Taluja, Sr, VP Fun Cinemas.

“Even the first semi-final saw 90 per cent occupancy but second semi-final onwards it has been completely booked,” says Gautam Dutta, CEO, Cine Media, PVR cinemas that is showing matches at eight venues — five 3D halls and three 2D screens. “Tickets for the 3D matches which are priced between Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 are also sold out,” adds Dutta.

Such is the craze for 3D matches that even some restaurants in the Capital are screening these. “We recently announced recently that we will be showing the matches on 3D screens, and ever since we have been flooded by queries about bookings,” says Marut Sikka of Kainoosh and Kera.
