An Assistant Superintendent of Ambala police was arrested on Saturday by the Haryana Vigilance Bureau for allegedly taking bribe from a villager for channelling a probe in the latter's favour, Bureau sources said.

Deepak Kumar who was the enquiry officer in a case against one Ajay Kumar, a resident of Khurehanpur village, allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 from Kumar for helping him in the investigation, they said.
Ajay Kumar took up the matter to DIG, Vigilance MS Ahlawat. Soon a raiding party was constituted under the supervision of an inspector of Vigilance Bureau and a trap was laid.
The Vigilence then apprehended the ASI red-handed and a case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Deepak who had served at Police Post No 5 in Ambala lately.
