Amit Jogi sent to Jail in Jaggi murder case

Satish Jaggi, son of the deceased NCP leader, has challenged the bail granted to Amit in the SC, reports Ejaz Kaiser.

Amit Jogi, son of former chief minister and a senior Congress leader Ajit Jogi was sent to jail after he surrendered before the Special Judge of Sessions Court B L Tirkey in Raipur on Wednesday. Amit acted in response to the cancellation of his bail by the Supreme Court on April 30.

Amit, a prime accused in the murder of NCP leader and state treasurer Ramavtar Jaggi, was granted bail by the Chhattisgarh High Court on May 3, 2006 by the then chief justice S R Nayak.

Satish Jaggi, son of the deceased NCP leader, had challenged the bail granted to Amit in the SC.

S K Farhan, counsel for Amit, told

Hindustan Times

that his client produced himself before the court with an affidavit mentioning that he is surrendering before the court after his counsel reported to him about the decision of the Apex Court. The court later sent him jail. The order of the Supreme Court on the cancellation of bail, however, could not reach the court on Wedensday, though it arrived in Raipur late Wednesday evening.
