Adidas on Wednesday launched the world's first intelligent shoe, adidas_1, in India that works like a human reflex nerve. The shoe can make 1,000 readings per second that are transmitted to its brain — a microprocessor capable of making five million calculations per second.

A sensor is placed just below the runner's heels and a magnet is placed at the bottom of the midsole. On each impact, the sensor measures the distance from top to bottom of the midsole, gauging the compression and therefore, the amount of cushioning being used. The microprocessor compares the compression messages received from the sensor and sends instruction to a motor, which accordingly lengthens or shortens the cable attached to the cushion system.
The shoe is priced at Rs 12,499.
