The visit of the two leaders is meant to focus on the State BJP’s preparations for the former party president L K Advani’s Bharat Suraksha Yatra. However, they would also have discussion with the party’s office-bearers about the functioning of the government, coordination between the government and the party, and the rebel leaders and workers’ activities in recent times, the party sources said.

Despite continuing onslaught by the expelled BJP leader Uma Bharti and her followers on the party leaders and the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP is still in dilemma as to what action can be taken against the rebels.

Interestingly, some of MLAs suspended from the party for their alleged anti-party activities continue to fire salvos against the party leaders, particularly the Chief Minister. The former minister Gaurishankar Shejwar overtly attended Uma Bharti’s Janadesh rally at Delhi. Recently, he not only attended a programme at Uma Bharti’s residence but also he danced tango along with other followers of Uma Bharti. But the party is still hesitant to take any action against him.

Satyanarayan Jatia, nominated to replace Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the State BJP president, seems to have realised his limitations now. He is not able to constitute his team even after a month of his nomination due to pressures from various quarters in the party.

The sources also mentioned that the relief to farmers affected by hailstorm was yet to be prominently visible. It happens to be the first major test of the government’s performance.

Meanwhile, the State BJP media in-charge Vijesh Lunawat said while Venkaiah Naidu was in-charge of the yatra, Ananth Kumar was its convener. The two leaders would have a meeting with the party’s office-bearers and ministers at the Chief Minister’s official residence at 1.30 pm.

The leaders would then have a meeting with the State in-charge of the yatra and other workers concerned at the State BJP office at 4 pm to review the preparations for the yatra in the State.

They would address the district presidents, general secretaries, state office-bearers and frontal organisations’ presidents at the State BJP office from 4.30 pm to 6 pm. They would leave Bhopal in the evening at 7.
