The Reddy government has been in controversy for the past month on several issues, including the controversy over the land scandal allegedly involving the chief minister and the party’s abject defeat in the Karinnagar Lok Sabha byelections which Telangana Rashtra Samiti leader Chandrashekhara Rao won by over two lakh votes on the plank of a separate Telangana.

There have also been complaints about the CM’s lack of accessibility to his party colleagues. But his handling of farmers suicides and extending the irrigation network was praised by the prime minister at the Congress chief ministers’ conclave in Nainital in September 2006.

According to Digvijay Singh, All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Andhra Pradesh, 300-odd state leaders, including former CMs, former MPs, MPs, legislators and state officebearers will attend the meeting which will review the performance of the state government and work out strategies for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
