Speaking to reporters here, Krishna said law and order would be maintained and the local authorities would deal with the situation appropriately if TDP held any rally at the site to protest the project.

Krishna asserted the project was being taken up by Karnataka to supply drinking water to 100 villages and Gudibande and Bagepalli towns.

The Ananthpur district of TDP has announced plans to organise a demonstration at the Paragodu project site on June six, saying it was detrimental to interests of Andhra Pradesh.

A delegation of Andhra Pradesh MPs had recently made a representation to President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee seeking their intervention on the project while dubbing it as "illegal".
