Spurred into action by a report by the Hindustan Times on Thursday about a woman being photographed by an attendant while she was trying on clothes in a sports apparel store’s changing room, the Maharashtra State Commission for Women (MSCW) has decided to direct the police to investigate the matter and submit a report.

“The commission will direct the police station concerned to probe the matter. Based on its report, we will decide on further action,” said MSCW Public Relations Officer Sharad Shinde.

The victim refused to register a complaint though a team from the Khar police station rushed to the store after being telephoned by her.

“We normally take up the matter only after the victim lodges a complaint. But the news report has enough details to be treated as a complaint. We shall analyse it and pass directives accordingly,” said Shinde.
