Angry parents storm Bangalore school, ‘paint’ walls with cow dung

The school is part of the Karnataka Unaided School Managements’ Association (KUSMA), which is against the RTE Act.

In the morning, slogan-shouting parents of the children targeted, stormed into the school and splattered its walls with cow dung. Outside, the Dalith Sangharsha Samiti, Kasturi Kannada and other organisations staged protests.

The school, which had opened after the KUSMA called off its strike, immediately announced a holiday. Police had to be called in.

DCP H Revanna said security will be provided to the school if necessary. “For now, the situation is under control,” he said.

Over the weekend, four children had tufts of their hair chopped off so they could be easily recognisable. They were made to stand apart during the assembly and boycotted from speaking to or playing with other children. The school is already facing an inquiry by the state education department.
