‘Molested’ girl’s immolation bid
ANNOYED at the laxity shown by the Chakeri police regarding the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl on May 6, SSP PC Meena on Thursday suspended three police officers including Chakeri SHO Kamarul Hasan.
The victim was admitted to UHM hospital’s emergency ward on Sunday after she set herself ablaze. The victim was admitted to the hospital on the same day but she disclosed on Wednesday that she was raped by two youths of Gaushala, Jajmau under the Chakeri police station on Saturday night. The victim is also a resident of the same place.
Admitted to bed no. 15 of NB II ward of UHM’s emergency, Shazia claimed that on Saturday night when her uncle didn’t return from his shop, her maternal aunt sent her to inquire about her uncle.
When she came out of her house she was allegedly raped by Nafis and Changa in a room near the Imambara in the same area. “I was raped by Nafis and Changa and I set myself on fire due to shame,” said the victim while narrating her tale of woe to Hindustan Times.
The victim, according to doctors, has sustained 70% burns and her condition is extremely critical. Following allegations of rape that surfaced two days after the girl was admitted to UHM hospital on Wednesday, a medical examination of the girl was conducted by Dr Shobha Mishra of AHM Dufferin hospital on Thursday. Standing beside the bed of the victim, her mother Ayesha Begum said, “I along with my husband had gone to Tulsipur village in Gonda district. There I was informed about the incident by my brother Mohd Rizwan.”

{{/usCountry}}Ayesha, however, couldn’t give a satisfactory reply as to why the issue was raised on Wednesday when the girl was allegedly raped on Saturday night , though she did say that the Chakeri police acted after she filed a second application on Wednesday, but that too after the matter was vehemently raised by city president of the Samajwadi Party Mehtab Alam.
Those who have been around the victim in the hospital are shocked at the startling allegations of rape made by the victim and her kin.
Moreover, a highly placed source said the medical examination report of the victim was not clear.
Meanwhile, SSP PC Meena, reacting sharply to the incident, suspended SHO Chakeri Kamarul Hasan.
The Senior Superintendent of Police has also suspended Jajmau police post in-charge Shesh Kumar Shukla and a sub-inspector Hamid Ali of the same police station in this regard. SHO Kakadev RK Singh has been transferred to Chakeri.
