After a gap of nearly one year, the two anti-corruption activists — Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev — will sit on a one-day token fast to press for a strong lokpal and to create awareness about black money at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 3.

The event will also commemorate the Delhi police’s midnight swoop on demonstrators at Ramlila ground on June 3, 2011.

Addressing a joint press conference on Friday, Hazare and Ramdev slammed the UPA government for being involved in corruption. “The hunger strike will begin at 10am and continue till 6pm,” said Ramdev.

The two leaders evaded questions on why other members of the Team Anna were not present at the press conference. In this context, the Yoga guru hinted at launching a nationwide campaign from August this year.

Both Anna and Ramdev also reiterated their commitment to wipe out corruption and establish a strong Jan Lokpal in the country. Anna will visit Mumbai on April 25 to meet politicians, including the Maharashtra chief minister, and discuss the lokpal issue.
