Another African, this time from Congo, was attacked by a mob at Mahadevapura in East Bengaluru Sunday for allegedly sexually harassing a woman. This is the second incident where a mob has attacked an African in the last two weeks.

Last week, two students from the Ivory Coast were attacked in Kothanur - just a few kilometers away from Mahadevapura.

Mande Legrand Tshipanda, 29, who works here in an IT firm, claimed that the attack against him was unprovoked even as a case was registered against him for sexual harassment.

Police inspector B Gautam told HT that Mande had allegedly offered his laundry woman money in exchange for sexual favours last Monday. Mande denied the allegation and said that he was at work when the supposed incident took place.

Claiming that it is a case of mistaken identity, he said that the woman and her family members provoked the public to attack him. "I could not understand what they were saying," he said.
