Another arrested in Nadia death case

The GRP arrested Mumbai Central crewmember Hadley D'Mello on a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder over Nadia Khan's death.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) on Saturday arrested Mumbai Central crewmember Hadley D'Mello on a charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder over the death of assistant director Nadia Khan.

D'Mello was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate DA Joshi and remanded to police custody till Thursday. He is the fourth person to be arrested in the case. The others arrested were director Kaizad Gustad, line producer assistant Ashish Udeshi, who are in police custody till Thursday, and police constable Darshana Vaity, released on a bail bond of Rs.6,000.

Khan, 27, a Pakistani-born British was second assistant director for the movie Mumbai Central, which deals with the lives of the dabbawallas or lunch box carriers in Mumbai. She was hit by a suburban train while shooting near Mahalaxmi station in south Mumbai and succumbed to her injuries at the Nair Hospital.

Gustad and Udeshi have moved a bail application that will be heard on Monday. "D'Mello had accompanied Udeshi when Nadia was rushed to the Nair Hospital," said an official at the Mumbai Central police station. "He was present, along with Udeshi, when the panchnama (the on-scene report) was made by police and the complaint was lodged."
