EITHER THE police have become very vigilant or the City has been transformed into a centre for flesh trade or so it seems with the busting of another sex racket today.
According to CSP (Annapurna) Amit Sanghi the CID got whiff of immoral activity going on in the area, which was subsequently confirmed by sources.
Acting on this information, a police team comprising of Annapurna police station incharge RN Upadhaya and his staff and Mahila Thana incharge Sarita Shukla raided house number- nine in Parshwanath Colony. During the raid, three call girls and four customers found in compromising position were arrested and sent to the Mahila Thana for further investigation.
The police have seized documents and mobile phones of the call girls and are tracing call records. It is claimed that the information obtained could reveal names abetting flesh trade racket in the City and its environs. The arrests have come close on the heels of a similar operation conducted on April 4 in Chandan Nagar area, which led to the arrest of seven call girls.
While in both instances the racket was being run from innocuous locations in non-descript colonies from rented houses the police have refuted any connection in this regard dismissing it as a mere operative convenience rather than a trend. Sanghi also denied that there was a drive going on against flesh trade in the City, which with a growing population and prosperity was becoming a target in the eyes of operators running sleaze rings.
