Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist was killed in an encounter on Monday morning in Battwan Ara area of Mahore tehsil of Reasi district about 200 kms of Jammu. It was the third major encounter in the area in one week. Police claims frequent encounters are taking place as frequency of terrorist-security forces contact has increased with the establishment of more police posts in the area.
SHO Mahore (officiating) sub-inspector Irfan Pervez joint operation of state police and Army at about 5.30 am and was over in three-hour in which L-e-T terrorist Altaf Hussain alias Abu Sayeed r/o Ladh was killed. "Two associates of Altaf Hussain managed to slip through the cordon," said SHO.
Three grenades and wireless set were recovered from the terrorist. Police said Altaf Hussain was active in the area for the last one year. Police said now about 22 terrorists belonging to HM and LeT are active in the area. Except Abu Abdullah, district commander LeT, who is from Pak, all of them are locals.
Mahore tehsil is a part of Gul Gulabgarh area, a highly terrorist infested area, bordering PirPanchal range. Terrorist use this route to move into the valley.

SSP Reasi Anand Jain said, " In the last one month special police posts have been established and two VDCs have been made active in the area. Locals are also providing intelligence inputs about movement of terrorists." Police posts have been set up at Aarbase, Ladh and Shadool areas.

Army claimed to have recovered about 21 kg RDX in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Army said troops of 38 RR during search operation in f in Dorimal forest recovered about 20 kgs of RDX. It was concealed in three separate IEDs. Army diffused them on Monday morning. In Soujian sector, Poonch district Army claimed to have diffused 1.4 kgs RDX recovered from the area.
