AFTER SEVERAL months of ceasefire, Maoist insurgents of Nepal are once again targeting centuries-old friendly relations between India and Nepal. Accusing India of encroaching upon Nepalese territory, Maoists have painted border pillars with anti-India slogan .
A Maoist-supported outfit, Janmorcha Nepal, which is assumed to have painted the border pillars, has warned Nepalese of dire consequences in case they attempt to wipe off anti-India graffiti on the pillars.
Significantly, this is the first time that Maoists have openly come out against India on the border close to Kheri district. Intelligence officials, as well as border security agencies, have visited the area and intimated senior officials about the development. A close vigil on the border is going on in view of the rising Maoist activities across the border.
Janmorcha Nepal has painted provocative slogans against India on border pillar number 753 (171) on the no-man’s land in Kheri. On the other side of the cone-shaped pillar facing Nepal, the outfit has condemned the Royal Government of Nepal.

A team of senior officials of the border security agencies visited the location and found that the village was within Nepal jurisdiction, about 400 away from no-man’s land. However, in their report, the officials indicated that the location of pillar number 136 was dubious as it had submerged in the Mohana river and was non-existent.
